The Vegan Solution

animal holocaust

The animal holocaust is a horrific global crime that will eventually have to come to an end. When this happens, it will be because of the efforts of those who speak out about it and raise public awareness of the situation.

All over the world, animals are imprisoned, enslaved, tortured and killed violently, and all over the world, people go on as if this is just fine with them. Everyone is complicit in this crime, except for those who reject the products of the animal holocaust, embrace the vegan ideal, and choose a life where harming others is not an option.

While we are waiting for the vegan ideal to be accepted for what it really is – the answer to so many of our world’s biggest problems – everyone who consumes and uses the products of this industry ought to truly learn the facts, honestly examine their personal conscience and act accordingly.

  1. HI Angel,
I totally respect your point of view, however I believe you might be a bit uninformed about certain matters. Your Care to comment about Red Robin battery hens is a bit off. Laying hens are not used for meat birds in the factory farm world. They simply do not put on enough meat. They are bred to produce eggs and are so scrawny they are only good for soup in the end. I, like you, are very much against cruelty to animals, however it really doesn’t help the cause if you do not get your facts straight. I kindly raised chickens for many years for eggs, and they had the run of a five acre farm, never had their beaks clipped, or any of the other autrocities you cite. They ate better, got more exercise, and had better lives then most humans. Not all farmers are evil Angel. I think that every step towards animal rights is a huge step. Let’s let up on the negatives and be happy for every bit of progress.

    • Hi Connie,

First of all, I don’t see this as progress. I see it as sending a very misguided message to the public; that Red Robin, whose business is focused around selling animal flesh, somehow has ethical standards of production.

Second, I cited my source for the quote. It didn’t come out of thin air. In fact, it came from a website that is dedicated to educating people about the truth of this matter. According to another source, “slaughtered battery hens are processed into soups, baby foods, stock cubes, school dinners or used in the restaurant trade.” I was under the impression that this was common knowledge.

Third, I said nothing whatsoever that suggested that I believe that ‘all farmers are evil’. I don’t even believe in that concept. I think that good and bad exist inside each person, and it is up to us which we nurture in every moment.

As for your statement about the treatment of free-range hens on your farm, please read my follow-up comment on Care2.

I understand why people don’t want to hear about the negatives. It’s depressing indeed. But we must not hide from the truth. That is the opposite of what we need as a civilization.

      Best wishes,
